AVHRA Newsletter Summer 2024

    July 29, 2024

    President's Message

Greetings AVHRA Members and HR Leaders,

It's hard to believe we are already in July! Your board has been active. We have been hosting events to foster engagement among our members and are excited to share some updates.

We are thrilled to announce that we have expanded our reach to the Moses Lake area by welcoming our newest board member, Michelle Culpepper, who will take on the role of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. With increased interest from Moses Lake, we look forward to growing our involvement there. If you are interested in getting involved, we currently are seeking to fill two roles, President Elect and Certification.

Our Programming team has been hard at work developing events such as the monthly Coffee Hour with Colleagues in Wenatchee and Ellensburg. In May, we successfully hosted the Mental Health Training in the Workplace in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, with over 26 participants joining both in person and online. Special thanks to Dr. Day from Confluence Health for facilitating the session. Stay tuned for more events to come. We may be in a location near you!

AVHRA membership continues to grow, and we are committed to supporting this growth by providing valuable programs and events for professional development and networking. If you have any questions, suggestions, or are interested in getting involved, please contact us.

Remember to follow us on LinkedIn for announcements, upcoming events, and career opportunities.

Thank you for your continued support!

    Best regards,
    Verónica Gómez Vilchis
    AVHRA President

Congratulations to the 2024 AVHRA Scholarship Recipient

Every year AVHRA contributes around $500 toward the Community Foundation of North Central Washington that awards scholarships to students. This year the scholarship was awarded to Ana Cortes, an online student at Central Washington University working towards a business administration (BSBA) degree in human resource management. According to Ana, completing her degree will assist her in her professional growth and would allow her to continue providing exceptional support to Eastmont School District Staff. Her passion has always been assisting others and trying to improve current systems and operations.

    SHRM + Your Local Chapter
Being a SHRM member + a local chapter member provides you with exclusive resources you can rely on to advance your career. The Apple Valley HR Association (AVHRA) is a dual membership chapter, which means that when you become a SHRM member you can designate AVHRA as your local chapter for FREE! When AVHRA is designated (not automatically done at registration), a portion of your registration is allocated to cover costs for local learning programs and networking/social events.

Join or renew today and experience the best of both worlds!

AVHRA strives to connect HR professionals and business leaders in North Central Washington: Ellensburg, Wenatchee, Moses Lake and north to the Canadian border. DM us for assistance on designating AVHRA as your local chapter.

If your SHRM My Account > Profile doesn't show AVHRA as the Chapter Affiliate, you can add AVHRA mid-cycle of your SHRM membership. There should a $0.00 cost for this "purchase" for adding AVHRA.
