June President's Message

    June 1, 2021

    Hello! Welcome to June!

This time of year is full of promise, isn’t it? End of the school year rituals, graduations, weddings…and the flowers are coming into full bloom. As we inch closer and closer to some degree of normalcy, I am looking forward to BBQs in the back yard, children running through the sprinklers, and the sounds of softball games in the park. I hope you take some time to enjoy these rites of summer this year. Oh, what a change a year has made.

Why don’t you join us? AVHRA’s next Convo and Coffee, networking event, is scheduled for 8am on June 17, 2021. Join in for an interesting and engaging unscripted hour of HR conversation and idea sharing, with some encouragement and laughter thrown in. Register here.

Great opportunity! As members of AVHRA, you are invited to the 2021 Seattle Virtual Fiduciary Summer, sponsored by Xponential Growth Solutions! It will take place Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 11:00 am – 1:15 pm. The purpose of this event is to allow plan sponsors to receive 401(k) and 403(b) updates from leading local and national experts. AVHRA members have been invited to waive the $150 registration fee and receive 2 hours of HRCI/SPHR, SHRM and CEBS credit. You can’t beat that! Explore and register here. Our custom code is AVHRA21.

Wine Social – We are in the planning stages of our first in-person AVHRA event in months. Look for information about this August event soon. We would love to see you!

Last, I received an e-mail from SHRM national regarding SHRM’s Blue Ribbon Commission Report on Racial Equity, a report filled with insights and tactical solutions, and a complete Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Action-To-Change Toolbox. It’s all available at Together Forward at Work and is worth your time to explore. As the slogan says, “We all see the problem. Now let’s look at a solution!”

Check the AVHRA and SHRM websites frequently for upcoming events. Our collective goal is to provide you opportunities for networking, education, and support. If you have suggestions about how we can better serve you, please don’t hesitate to contact me (staci@cwu.edu), or one of our other board members, directly.
