President's Message

    May 10, 2017

Spring is finally here.  I hope you are enjoying the warm weather as much as I am!

Please visit our website under Events at avhra.shrm.org and make sure to log all of our 2017 events are on your calendar.  Join us next week for our “Love It or Leave It” Lunch & Learn program on Thursday, May 18th.  Attorneys from Ogden Murphy Wallace will discuss state and federal leave law including recent updates and changes on the horizon.  Hurry… You still have time to register.  This is a great opportunity to spend an hour away from the hustle and bustle of work and rejuvenate with the energy and support of our colleagues while enjoying a great meal and refreshing our brain power!

We are beyond excited about the line-up of high caliber speakers from award winning and top ranked employers for our June 7th Washington Leadership Summit.  Lunch and afternoon snacks are included.  Please register soon.  Tickets are already flying and we aim to pack the house!

2017 AVHRA Board Position Vacant!  If you’ve been thinking about expanding your involvement in AVHRA, now is the time.  We are looking for a new VP of Membership to take over for the remainder of the year.  We wish Christine the best in her new business venture with her husband.  If you are interested, please touch base with me and we can discuss minimum, easily manageable, duties.  Time commitment is an average of 2-5 hours per month depending on your availability and interests.  Being a member of the AVHRA board comes with great honor and reward.  We would LOVE to have you join us!  Opportunities are endless for career development, fun, networking, colleague support and fulfillment in volunteerism.

Please remember to designate AVHRA as your home chapter.  When you designate us as your chapter, SHRM provides financial support to assist us in being able to provide you with the programs and certification credits you want.

We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming event!
