Get in the spirit of volunteering – we need you!

    September 12, 2014

A message from Hana and Ruth, AVHRA Program Co-chairs.

Planning monthly programs for members is an important part of what we do.  It’s our goal to provide quality training/education and networking opportunities that benefit members personally and professionally, and add value to organizations in our community.

Because work and personal obligations affect abilities to volunteer, we decided to “co”-chair the Programs position for AVHRA in 2014. Sharing the role has been very rewarding and also advantageous to us. After surveying members on program and topic interests, we worked collaboratively to identify valuable programs and speakers for the year. The best part is we shared the responsibility of managing programs based on our time, interests and strengths.  We divide assignments for logistics, food, materials, re-certification credits and program set-up details It’s a great partnership for us personally, for our employer and for the AVHRA Board.

Volunteering is about giving, contributing and helping other individuals in your community. It’s our members’ generous contributions of time and talent that play a huge role in making AVHRA successful.  We can offer you rewarding and valuable opportunities to gain experience, foster professional relationships and enjoy the satisfaction of helping advance the human resources profession

Do you have a passion for HR? Do you enjoy working with others? Consider being a volunteer on the AVHRA Board. There are a number of vacant board positions available for 2015, including Programs.

Here are a few reasons to consider volunteering – won’t you join us?

    • Help AVHRA achieve its goals and objectives and in doing so, enhance the image of the HR profession.

    • Increase your network in the HR community. This can help you with new ideas for your organization, research best practices and broaden your knowledge.

    • Improve leadership and communication skills working collaboratively with others.

    • Attend all AVHRA program meetings for free! This can be a value worth more than $350.00 to you and/or your employer.

    • Earn HRCI recertification credits for program participation AND an additional 5 credits to chair a Board position.
