    From WA State Council member, Scott Washburn:

    I'm thrilled to announce Central Washington University (CWU) has decided to offer a new scholarship for students pursuing the field of human resources by creating an endowed scholarship honoring Dr. Jim Nimnicht.  As you know, under Dr. Nimnicht's leadership, the Human Resource Management program at CWU has grown to become one of the top ten Human Resource Management programs in the nation according to the Society for Human Resources Management.

    I am so thankful for Dr. Nimnicht's leadership, passion for human resources, and the opportunity to be a personal friend and mentor of mine which I will be forever grateful for.  I can think of no better way to honor Dr. Nimnicht than supporting an endowed scholarship in his name to help pass along his legacy and passion for this incredible field of human resources.

    To help raise funds for this scholarship, CWU is holding a kick-off event and CWU SHRM Alumni Reunion on Saturday, April 27th at 5:00pm at The Lodge at Suncadia.  Cost to attend the event is only $50 per person and you can register online at http://www.cwu.edu/business/nimnicht or fill out the registration form HERE.  Even if you can't attend the event, you can still support the scholarship by making a donation using the registration form.

    Our goal is to show our support for Dr. Nimnicht's leadership and the CWU Human Resources Management Program by raising $100,000.  Gifts can be made today, at the event, or over five years to help support the long-term viability of the scholarship.

    This scholarship honoring Dr. Nimnicht and his selfless leadership supporting the field of human resources is a huge honor for him personally as well as a great opportunity for an aspiring human resource student at CWU.  The purpose of the scholarship is to provide support for a student meeting the following criteria:

    • Must be enrolled full-time at CWU;
    • Must be accepted as a major in the College of Business with a specialization in Human Resource Management;
    • Must maintain a 3.0 grade point average overall and in the major; and,
    • Must have completed HRM 381 Human Resource Management

    Student members of the CWU Chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management will be given preference in the selection for the scholarship

    A few important facts about Dr. Nimnicht and his leadership at CWU:

    • Dr. Nimnicht began his career at Central Washington in 1988 with the goal of building a strong program in human resources management. Without question he succeeded.
    • Largely due to Jim's efforts, Central's program became one of the top ten programs in the nation according to the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
    • In addition to program recognition, Jim is the only two-time winner of the National Faculty Advisor of the Year Award presented by the SHRM Foundation.
    • He was also recognized in 1999/2000 as the Washington State Professor of the Year by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the Washington State Senate.
    • The Department of Management is proud to build upon Dr. Nimnicht's legacy by extending the HRM specialization to the Des Moines and Lynnwood campuses this fall.
