President's Message

    August 17, 2016

Michael Nash’s Excellence in Management program in Moses Lake was a huge success!  There were 50 people in attendance from many different employers in the area and they walked away with great knowledge and tips and techniques to put in place immediately. Thank you to Liza Fulbright for coordinating this awesome event.

Don’t forget that Mike is also presenting his full, four-day EXCELLENCE IN MANAGEMENT series in Wenatchee on September 28, 29 and October 5, 6 at the beautiful Confluence Technology Center.  It’s a great opportunity for individuals and work teams to gain important training without the expense of traveling out of the immediate area. Additional information is available under meeting information.

2016 NHRMA is headed our way!  Held in Bellevue, September 7-9 it will be a great conference and AVHRA will be recognized for the second time with the Randy Lundberg Northern Lights Award!  Annie Horey, long-time AVHRA board member will be present to receive this prestigious award.

As always, we welcome your attendance at our monthly board meetings, held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at the main Chelan PUD offices from 7am-8am. We are focusing our efforts on succession planning for a variety of AVHRA board positions open in 2017 and will be holding a special electronic vote in September to ensure a smooth transition for key roles being vacated by current board members.  We are actively seeking interest in the following positions:

    • Certification
    • Membership
    • Communications (website updates, e-mail blasts, etc.)
    • President and President-elect

If you have interest in exploring any of these opportunities, we encourage you to contact co-presidents, Ruth Erwert or Reagan Bellamy for more information about the responsibilities and added benefits of joining our team.

We also want to hear from you if you’re interested in joining fall study group for certification. There is tremendous value to you personally and professionally, as well as your employer – consider certification, it’s career enhancing!

Don’t forget to designate AVHRA as your home chapter; when you designate us as your chapter, SHRM provides financial support to assist us in being able to provide you with the programs and certification credits you want.

Please make sure to visit our website frequently.  We have information regarding our programs as well as local, regional, and national HR conferences. We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming meeting or event!
